Appointments & Consultations
Do I need a GP referral to book an appointment?
Private consultations can usually be booked directly without a GP referral.
How long is a consultation?
Initial consultations typically last 20–30 minutes, allowing time for detailed discussion and assessment.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Any relevant medical records, previous scan reports, medication list and details of your symptoms.
Can I have a scan during the same visit?
Yes, pelvic ultrasound can often be performed during the consultation if clinically indicated.
Can I request a second opinion?
Yes. Second opinions are welcomed, particularly for complex or ongoing conditions.
Gynaecology
What conditions are commonly treated?
Endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, heavy or irregular periods, PCOS, pelvic pain, PMS/PMDD and menopause-related concerns.
When should I see a gynaecologist?
If you experience persistent pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, menstrual changes or ongoing symptoms affecting daily life.
Is surgery always required?
Every case is different and many can be managed with more conservative or medical methods. Surgery is appropriate in some circumstances and is an important part of endometriosis treatment, supported by other strategies.
Is ultrasound always required?
Not always, but it is often helpful for accurate diagnosis and may be recommended during your consultation.
Can hormonal treatments affect future fertility?
Most treatments are reversible. Individual advice is provided based on your long-term plans.
Endometriosis
What are the common signs of endometriosis?
Pelvic pain, painful periods, pain during intercourse and sometimes fertility difficulties.
How is endometriosis diagnosed?
Assessment includes clinical history and imaging. In some cases, laparoscopy may be required for confirmation.
Can endometriosis be treated without surgery?
Yes. Many patients are managed with medical therapy and lifestyle strategies.
Will treatment cure endometriosis?
Treatment focuses on symptom control and disease management rather than cure.
Fertility & Pre-Conception
When should I consider a fertility assessment?
After 12 months of trying to conceive (or 6 months if over 35), or earlier if there are known concerns.
What does a fertility assessment involve?

Can I optimise my chances of pregnancy?
Yes. Pre-conception counselling provides guidance on timing, lifestyle and medical factors.
Pregnancy & Maternity
When should I book my first pregnancy appointment?
Soon after a positive pregnancy test, particularly if you would like early reassurance or specialist care.
What is included in maternity care?
Regular consultations, scans, screening tests and monitoring of maternal and fetal wellbeing.
What is a high-risk pregnancy?
A pregnancy requiring closer monitoring due to medical conditions, previous complications or current findings.
Can I choose how I give birth?
Delivery options are discussed individually, balancing personal preference with clinical safety.
Labour & Delivery
What happens if complications arise during labour?
If needed, assisted delivery or caesarean section may be recommended to ensure safety.
Is a caesarean section safe?
Yes. It is a commonly performed procedure with structured surgical and postoperative care.
Can I plan an elective caesarean?
This can be discussed during consultation based on individual circumstances.

Assessment is usually clinical, but investigations may be recommended depending on your history.
